An excellent Norwich pub, and a PUB in every sense of the word. I've been in a few times now and the atmosphere is consistently friendly and welcoming. Honest traditional decor, nothing posh by any means, but comfortable and always clean nonetheless.
A good mix of people, prices right where you expect them, and the guys and girls behind the bar make you feel welcome straight away. I've never been waiting long to be served.
Only one downside so far as I can tell - no outside smoking facilities, so you'll be standing on the street in the rain. But certainly not worth the deduction of a star for something the government is responsible for burdening us all with. -

Well as a visitor first impressions were good , nice decor looked clean . But there was a distinct smell near the bar , only two real ales on and these were warm and stale . Sorry give it a miss .

Well, I've been in Norwich for all of five minutes now and clearly the good denizens like a drink or two. Walls, pavements and gutters are strewn with last nights proof, and the number of wizened twenty-something's scouring the ground for dog ends is a wonderful thing. To welcome me after the hot, oppressive train journey up from civilisation Norwich arranged a thunderstorm. Shelter was called for and a pub sign stating The Wild Man offered aid. Upon entering it's clear that the locals don't like anything to get in the way of their drinking. A truly old-school boozer stripped back to wood, a few tables and chairs, an average of five teeth per person propped up at the bar and plenty of space to fall over without doing any more serious damage than denting the floor. The beer is good, the music is awful and I'm scared that if I get my iPad out I may be declared a witch. I'm assuming that food beyond the Scampi Fries is non existent and, why not! The last thing that the good folks of Norwich want to be doing is taking the edge off of their hard-won alcohol with food. If you're visiting then I thoroughly recommend a visit. Wednesday is karaoke with Gary and Thursday open mic night. Friday is Andy Robinson and there is no mention of the weekend probably topless cat fights.

This pub's a bit of a strange one. It certainly has character, and it a good place for a drink. Prices aren't that bad either. The acoustic night on Thursdays is an open mike night, so a bit mixed, but some good stuff.

I love this pub and its non-judgemental clientele and staff. You really can arrive dressed however you like without being made to feel uncomfortable. For example, I used to go in suited and booted after work and see people in casual stuff, designer gear, plain old jeans and T-Shirt and a few out there ensembles! None of this mattered though because of the relaxed atmosphere, good duke box choices and battered old furniture. The drinks were reasonably priced too. It's somewhere I return to whenever I visit Norwich at night.
